When I joined the Stroke Association, their health information took the form of dry, dense factsheets. I led a project to make it work better for users.

For months, I worked with stroke survivors and their families to rework the format, content, and tone of printed information. Every decision was shaped by the questions they had, the voices they trusted, and what made information more accessible to them.

The result was a set of simple, easy-to-read booklets supported by more detailed online guides. The approach was commended by NHS England’s Information Standard and continues to be used by the Stroke Association ten years on.
